The story
Mayer's 2013 'Talking Watches' episode became the most-watched piece of watch media ever made and helped kick off the modern collecting boom. His Daytona collection is regarded by specialists as among the finest anywhere, and in 2020 he co-designed a Casio G-SHOCK tribute to Prince.

- The green-dial gold Rolex Day-Date is now unofficially nicknamed the 'John Mayer' after he praised it on camera.
- Mayer was invited back for a second 'Talking Watches' episode in 2018, one of very few guests to appear on the series twice.
